AI Decision Map™ Assessment Tool

A free, interactive self-assessment tool based on the AI Decision Map™ framework by Vin Mitty. Leaders walk through a guided evaluation of any AI use case they are considering and receive a Risk Score from 1 to 64, a map placement, and a concrete governance checklist.

What the Assessment Produces

The Four Assessment Steps

  1. Problem Framing — Name the use case, describe the decision or workflow changing, define success in one sentence, and select a primary metric (time saved, cost per case, error rate, conversion rate, resolution time, or customer satisfaction)
  2. Exposure — Who is the primary user (employees, managers, customers, or public)? Where do AI outputs appear? What happens if the AI is wrong (annoying/recoverable, costly/reputational, legal/regulatory, or serious harm)?
  3. Autonomy — How much independent authority does the AI have? High-stakes flags checked?
  4. Opacity — What type of AI (predictive, generative, or agentic)? How traceable? What is the source of truth?

Risk Bands and What They Mean

The score is calculated as: Exposure × Autonomy × Opacity, each dimension scored 1–4.
